Samiha Matin is a writer of predominantly literary and popular fiction, with proficiency in other genres such as poetry, nonfiction, and scholarly essays. She holds a B.A. in English and Creative Writing with a minor in Religion History (Islam and Judaism) from the University of Michigan, and an MFA in Creative Writing and an MA in English Literature from the University of Arizona. Based in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in English and Creative Writing at the University of North Texas. She also writes under Sami and Sam, and works across multiple genres, including literary fiction, young adult, gothic, romance, fantasy, romantasy, horror and science fiction. They are a very fast, meticulous, ever-creating writer, polishing every old and new work, and their favorite places to write about and live in are Dhaka, Mainz, Ann Arbor, Tucson, and usually any megalopolis.

She received the Alison Deming Creative Writing Fellowship in May 2021, a Foundations Award in April 2022, and was a 2025 Tin House Winter Online Workshop participant. They were self-funded through numerous jobs and internships such as a Diversity Peer Educator, a Marketing and Social Media Manager, a Research Assistant and a front desk worker as an undergrad, and a graduate teaching associate and a career-track lecturer during their Master’s degrees. In April 2025 they were awarded a competitive teaching fellowship at the University of North Texas as a doctoral candidate. She is currently working on her debut literary YA novel.
